The Mendel-Zirm Lecture Series is a new series of lectures given by the leading scientists in genetics, oncology, biomedicine, molecular biology, toxicology, biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry, medicine and other related research disciplines. The Mendel-Zirm Lecture Series seeks specialist from interdisciplinary areas in order to introduce latest approaches, technologies and methods to attending colleagues. The main purpose of the lecture series is to create a network of contacts from growing areas in order to educate both scientists and students. The lectures are held once in 1-2 months.
The first speaker was the worldrenowned Professor of Chemistry, inventor and innovator Alexander Dömling, who is an ERA chair of the Synthetic Group, that will be established in 2023 and the Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN) of Palacký University Olomouc (UP). His work "ERA Chair for Accelerated Synthetic Chemistry Technologies at Palacký University Olomouc" is focused on an unconquered issue of automation in synthetic chemistry, innovative compound-based whole-plant-screening technologies for securing food supply, novel antibacterials addressing the challenge of increasing antimicrobial resistance and breakthrough materials for batteries and supercapacitors enabling energy storage from renewable sources are just few challenges awaiting to be solved by the ACCELERATOR.
