PhD Club lecture: DNA polymerase α-primase protects BRCA1-deficient cells against ssDNA gaps by Zuzana Machačová

Dear colleagues,
We would like to invite you to the lecture by Zuzana Machačová called "DNA polymerase α-primase protects BRCA1-deficient cells against ssDNA gaps". The lecture will be on Wednesday June 19, 2024 at 9AM in the IMTM seminary room 1.09.

Abstract
The BRCA pathway is crucial for supressing replication gaps by restraining replication fork progression during replication stress and facilitating post-replicative repair of single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) gaps. Replication gaps are linked to PARP inhibitor sensitivity and defects in Okazaki fragment processing in BRCA-deficient cells. This presentation's data show that inhibiting DNA polymerase α-primase in BRCA1-deficient cancer cells increase replication gaps, suggesting a potential therapeutic strategy.
