As part of the NICR project, a new research group was created that deals with HPV-associated tumors. The research group is led by Vladimíra Koudeláková. While HPV is often associated with cervical cancer, it's also responsible for tumors in the oropharyngeal region (head and neck). Their innovative gargling test could revolutionize screening for these types of cancers in the future.
